Debut of the play "Lu eta Le", a look into the universe of Lourdes Iriondo and Xabier Lete

2016-12-06  ¦  Theatre

Donostia 2016 and Ados Teatro present Lu eta Le, a play written by Bernardo Atxaga, directed by Garbi Losada and with music by Juan Carlos Pérez. The work gives us a look into the world of Xabier Lete and Lourdes Iriondo.

Debut of the play

Produced by DSS2016 and Ados Teatro, Lu eta Le opened on December 4 at the Victoria Eugenia Theater in San Sebastián. Bernardo Atxaga wrote the play and Juan Carlos Perez wrote the music. The idea behind the play, according to Atxaga (audio available at Euskadi Irratia, in Basque), is not to move the audience but to help them understand Lourdes Iriondo’s and Xabier Lete’s lives and the society that surrounded them. The themes addressed in the play include death, love and the long years during which our society lived in conflict.

In the play, Atxaga views the world of Xabier Lete and Lourdes Iriondo through his own lens. The text, which uses nonconventional dramatic language, is a kaleidoscope of scenes and fragments of scenes about both figures. Atxaga’s text, Perez’s music, and the direction of Garbi Losada present a theatrical structure and an abstract musical score and that eschew traditional approaches and instead presents a quest based on formal and textual nakedness.
